FOOTPATHS MAP
Brampton Parish Council produced a commemorative footpaths map with the help of East Cumbria Countryside Project & Visual Imprint in 2004, this was revised in 2012 with help from Cumbria County Council and Brampton Walkers are Welcome.
The map is detailed below and can be downloaded here
‘RAMBLINGS AROUND BRAMPTON’ – suggested walking routes
Brampton is a lovely area to walk in at any time of year and of course most people do so in the summer months, but if you venture out here in the quiet winter months you can experience a special kind of magic when the low watery sun hangs over twisted oaks; when dense hedgerows and woodland bare their secrets and views appear through skeletal branches; your walking companions may be the lone piping robin and the chattering flocks of fieldfare; the optimistic warbling of the mistle thrush promises spring days ahead.
The Parish Council has a Footpaths and Rights of Way Working Group. Several years ago they produced a leaflet called ‘Ramblings around Brampton’. Six walks ranging from 2¼ to 6½ miles from the leaflet can be downloaded here.
These ‘ramblings’ were later adapted into a booklet ‘Cobbles to Countryside’ which is available from the office at a cost of £3.50.
RIGHTS OF WAY
The parish of Brampton has almost 30 public footpaths and 1 bridleway which are all well used. Maintenance duties are split between landowners or occupiers and the maintenance authority. The maintenance authority for the paths in our area is Cumberland Council.
